“I can sleep when I’m dead” Rainer Werner Fassbinder would have turned 75 on 31 May 2020.
Whether the exceptional artist ever aspired to this age given his excessive lifestyle is debatable. There is no doubt that he created around forty films and numerous plays with great artistic energy in his short life.
Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s centre of life was today’s Glockenbach district in Munich. On our city tour, we pass the former Action Theatre in Müllerstraße, where Fassbinder first experienced alternative theatre. We visit the “mother house” of the Fassbinder clan, the Hotel Deutsche Eiche. Fassbinder also called it his living room, as he lived in Reichenbachstraße directly opposite for a time.
A Munich child who was disapproved of and ignored, but also loved. Follow in the footsteps of this exceptional talent with us on this personalised city tour – following his beginnings, excesses and companions.
