Congratulations on your 50th birthday!Munich won the bid for the XX. Summer Games.
The accommodation for 12,000 athletes, all the venues and lots of infrastructure had to be built in just 6 years on what was once a flat site (around 1900 it was just a sheep pasture). Initially, the people of Munich had little enthusiasm for the “ghastly” tent roof and only accepted this impressive roof construction because of the beautiful overall design.
You can book our tour of the Olympic site as a walking tour or, more conveniently, as a bicycle tour (you can hire bikes from us, of course):
